I just can't get over how good this is. Literally zero bullshit. You only convey what is necessary and you do it efficiently while still being entertaining. You even have a good visual aid, unlike most writing youtubers who just talk at a camera. Again: Zero. Bullshit.

Here to defend Tenant The protagonist asking "Who?" in the way he did actually perfectly suits his character. He's not the type to ask that question, which is why it takes him so long to ask. The only reason this changes is because by that point in the movie, he's already suspected that it was himself He's more asking for confirmation from Neil than anything else

Like Tarantino, Sorkin engages in the art of verbally pleasuring himself. The Steve Jobs movie was a play on film where it's OK to talk ad nauseam. Less is more.

And you still might not be published/read because apparently writing about book about how your character is having a relationship with his step sister makes you New York Times bestselling author worthy. (Hint: maybe it is not your writing ability but your subject matter)

I'm sure you've considered, LSM, that the fundamental causality you describe in your initial rant is seemingly broken by the fundamental randomness that has been 'proven' to be inherent at the smallest scales of reality (via Bell Inequality experiments, for which Nobel Prizes were recently awarded. Feel free to look it up.) HOWEVER, performing any 'proof' requires some axiomatic assumptions, most of which feel trivial (if you prove to me that someone, say, stole your script, I'm not going to refute you by supposing that you could just be abrain in a jar simulating all of reality.) But when we're testing the bedrock of reality to draw existential conclusions about the universe, maybe challenging our assumptions makes sense. Generally, the assumptions made, for proofs of fundamental quantum randomness, assume Locality and Realism. A few ways of breaking these: 1. Nonlocality IF there exists anything to which 'space does not apply', i.e. which can interact with things in space across arbitrary distances instantly (like faster than light travel), then the proofs aren't conclusive. (Think of a force that doesn't even recognize 'location' as a concept to it, like Frodo asking Tolkien, 'Where in Middle Earth are you?' He's not just 'faster than the speed of light in Middle Earth'...the idea of location there doesn't even apply.) Taken as a given because interacting faster than light breaks maths, might cause retro-causality etc. 2. Non-realism If the person performing the experiments is just a consciousness simulating the universe and there is no objective 'reality' outside of us as perceivers, then, uh, the results of the experiment (and almost every experiment?) are moot. Realism is kind of a given. 3. Supersymmetry The idea that...well, shit, essentially the theory that the entire history of the universe was storyboarded *such that* you would not be able to find any causal link behind any quantum phenomenon. It takes the causal link to the extreme, makes even us, as individuals performing the tests, all part of quantum correlated phenomena since the beginning of time(?), or something. This one is tough -- but maybe the most natural, elegant conclusion? Obviously none of this is relevant, but I do find it fun to think about. Appreciate your content, dude.

ehhhh 90% i agree, but saying that you HAVE to give an entire timeline of a character for them to “be human” isnt true at all. example: you meet many people in real life every day, you only meet them for an hour at a time maybe. they are still real. because the time you do spend with them is grounded in reality. you dont have to go with them to the toilet to know that they pee. you can imply that because they passed the test of the uncanny valley the first time you met them. use your time wisely, dont come off as an “npc”

I hope that one more comment on the subject means something: Your writing analysis and subsequent explanations are the best I've ever experienced. I'm a new writer who's been scouring YT for all the free info I can to educate myself. After watching I-don't-know-how-many-hours of writing content, I can safely say that you explain more information, better, in ~10 minutes, than most industry veterans do in 30+. (not every ball player can be a good coach) I've been doing therapy for 21 years, so I know these concepts, but seeing and hearing them broken down so efficiently and in such an easily digestible way is quite literally invaluable to me. I hope your channel blows up, you absolutely deserve it! (but not with bombs, the metaphorical kind) Thank you!!

My brain can't wrap itself around the first point just cos of how my brain works. "Character" has always felt made up, even if I know what character refers to. As a kid, made up things in shows were called "characters" and I can't scrub it out of my head. The moment I see them as a person I can write them better. I get what you're saying but it doesn't work for me.
